Ding! Level 10, again!

July 3rd 2009 at 18:17

Rerolling is serious business. Lots of people do it for various reasons, but what are those?

First off, there is trying a different class or role. Switching from a Hunter to a Druid or from Healer to Tank is a world of difference. Of course you can try this by playing an alt but the feeling is still a lot less overwhelming since you won't be dedicated to playing this difference.

Secondly, we have switching realms. When you get tired of the current community or when you want to look up and play with friends you go someplace else. It's for those that don't mind the leveling and don't want to pay for a transfer.

Switching sides is also a valid reason to change a character of course. Until the only recently announced switcheroo service is available, this is the only way to go Alliance from Horde and vica versa. Playing is a lot different since zones are divided in other ways, towns and cities obviously and sometimes the general community differs on the other side.

For me all 3 are in effect. Which I constitute into a fresh start. Different people, different side and different place. BE Paladin to Gnome Mage. Dejá vu for me since I did do this before, the exact same class and race combos. Somehow these are my favourites.

Did you reroll before or thought about it? What are your favourite classes? Think about it.

p.s. look me up @ EU-Nagrand. Gnome Mage called Chimina Tongue out

5 weeks later...

July 1st 2009 at 17:47

It's been about 5 weeks since my last entry, and also 5 weeks since I played the game last. But now I'm installing it again.

At first I didn't miss it you kniw, it was kind off relaxing not having to log in for once. My parents punishing me by revokingmy internet didn't help anyway, but I just went with it.

After about 2 weeks I decided to delete the game from my hard drive. It was sortoff a speedbump I needed to take. It meant I would finally be free, and I was.

3 weeks passed and I was allowed back on internet, payed my dues. And still I was contempt without WoW, but it came creeping.

A month and I would be lying to say that I didn't miss it anymore, because somehow I did. Not speaking with lots of friends, having nothing concrete, fun and cheap to spend my free time in. But we had a floor to remove. (We are renovating our living room and kitchen, I might post pictures in the foreseeable future ;) )

5 weeks and the floor was gone and now I can't really help a lot with the renovation anymore, and suddenly even more spare time. I was denying the feelings I had and started looking for replacements to spend time in, but these days nothing is as good as WoW, and the only thing I would play instead of it is still in development (SW:TOR will be awesome!).

After realising the average of 3 and a half hour a day I've spent playing the game the past 2 and a half year I decided that that wouldn't be it. So I'm reinstalling as I type this. (Just put in disc 5 of the old CD version)

Now only to decide what to play XD

Joan of Arc

May 24th 2009 at 00:29

Joan of Arc was a brave girl who only lived to be 19. In this time she accomplished a lot. Most importantly getting Charles the VII crowned who ended the 100 year war between England and France.

Why I bring her up? Today we had our yearly celebration in her memort at our Scouting group. Every year we hold a big party so everyone they be young or old can enjoy a day of fun.

And fun was had.

What did they make me do? Supervise the cake decorating contest. Really. I was like, how do you decorate slices of cake? Well, you put whip cream on it apparently and then you drop candy on top of that. That simple.

Then the rest of the evening was pretty meek, but still enjoyable. There was a big campfire, we had some beer and some hamburgers.

Maybe it does sound boring, but with a lot of friends you can easily entertain yourself.

This year is also the 100th birthday of scouting worldwide. If there is a scouting group near you, you could check it out sometime. There is always enough fun stuff planned, or you could volunteer to pester some children one night a week, which is always fun.

Now to only hope I don't have a hangover when I have to play handball in the morning ;)

Fascinating

May 22nd 2009 at 18:02

When you start off as a wee level one in places like Durotar or Elwynn Forest, you don't know what life will be like when you finally reach the maximum level. This I find fascinating, what moves someone to start achieving greatness in the World (of Warcraft).

When you draw that parallel between our fantasy home and the so-called "real world", there isn't that much of a difference. Raiding high level instances can be seen as your characters occupation, and so does playing Arena. Where raids could be considered a rigid 9-to-5 job, arena is available as freelance at any time, and that's why a lot of people do both.

Farming materials so you can keep doing raids or arena is like afterwork studying. You have to do it to be able to compete with co-workers or in WoW's case your team partners or other raid members.

Hunting achievements? It's like going on vacation or much simpler; playing sports. Something you do because it's fun, and it gives you satisfaction without life-bettering rewards. You could compare winning a sports tournament or competition as finally reaching that special Dragonhawk mount (72 and counting!).

Daily quests is a bit like eating in real life. You have to do it to be able to fuel those other things you do like work and sports. Something that keeps returning in your to do list daily or weekly. Cooking, cleaning, washing, you name it you count it.

Finally logging off is exactly the same in both realities. Going to sleep or turning of the game makes you and your character stop "living" for a while to gain energy back that was lost in the past day.

Now here's the kicker. What in real life constitutes as free time and/or relaxation, most of us live a second existence. Stress these days gives us humans so much problems and anxiety. Not having enough money to buy dinner, or clothes, or pay rent etc. gives a lot of stress and it's tearing us apart physically and mentally. We that play WoW, or any other MMO for that matter, don't we have double the amount of stress? How are we keeping it up? If you know the answer, don't hesitate to tell me that.

Now for some lighter stuff.

My first blog - The beginning of the end?

May 21st 2009 at 22:28

So yesterday someone in the guild said to me that the world would end in 2012. Something about the Mayan calender ending and that there is going to be a big natural disaster. Not the first time I heard this, a friend of mine was also going on about this a while back. And there is even a movie coming about it...

I call bullshit.

Now ofcourse you can agree or disagree about this, but can you really believe that a civilization that is long (really long!) gone somehow knew which exact date the world would end? How can they know something we can't see coming? Aren't we currently the most advanced civilization of humans since we walked out of the caves and discovered fires?

Personally, I actually can see the future. No really. But it's in a way I can't ever get a grasp on, since I dream it. Once every so often I have really vivid dreams where I see something clearly and can almost feel like I am there. Then I wake up and don't really remember it anymore. But months later when I'm like walking somewhere at work or whereever, I get the biggest Deja Vu you can imagine. Since that point in time I can actually remember from those dreams months earlier.

I can vaguely remember this happening when I was young too. My mom always knew I was special somehow. According to those that care I am gifted. I have a photographic long term memory, and it fails short term somehow. I remember stuff naturally if it interests me.

Sometimes it freaks me out.

But I don't worry about it. I worry about not much in this life. I try to live day by day and see what life brings me. What interests me? Mostly WoW and Television. Also I do Handball and am a Scout.

Balancing life is the hardest part, but isn't that the meaning of it? Living your life like you want, enjoying it anyway you can while trying to make everyone around you enjoy with you.

That's my first blog then, I'll be back soon.
